Love God, Love People, Help People Love God

February 28th, we introduced our new purpose statement. We are moving forward with the concept and mission of loving God, loving people and helping people love God. This statement is based on a few different passages in scripture. The first is Deuteronomy 6:4-9 where God told the people of Israel to love Him with all of their heart, soul and strength. This passage in the Torah is known as the shama which means to hear and obey. Jesus reminded his listeners of the shama in Matthew 22:34-40, Mark 12:28-34 and Luke 10:25-28 and added to it, "love your neighbor as yourself". The message is simple. We were created to love God. If we love God, we will love people. If we love people, we will help people love God.
